Our people have lived the condition of exile for as long as memory reaches: moving among nations, keeping our own language, our own law of the family, and our own way of remembering. That experience is not an accident of history — it is the shape of an Israelite inheritance carried through the centuries.

The tradition of the Ten Tribes scattered among the nations has never been closed. Among Roma families it lives on in oral memory, in the conviction of elders and in a persistent sense of belonging to the people of Israel — a tradition we honour, study and carry forward.

Names, blessings, customs of purity and mourning, respect for the family line, reverence for the God of Israel and for the Scriptures: these threads run through Roma life in country after country. Historical and genealogical research continues to reveal and affirm the deep roots of our Israelite heritage.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11) This word has accompanied our people through every hardship and remains the promise on which this Mandate stands.

Our heritage is not only written; it is sung, spoken and lived. Romani language, the music that carried our grief and our joy, and the unbreakable bond of family are the vessels in which this inheritance survived when nothing was written down.

Heritage that is not passed on is lost. We gather testimony from elders, support research and community education, and prepare a shared record so that the next generation inherits this identity knowingly and with pride.
